Today's memory is one that happened today and is burned in my brain by it's creepiness.
I should first let you know that I have vowed to stop shopping at WalMart. I had the last of a long string of bad customer service experiences and promised myself that they will never see any of my money again. Funny, when I told the customer service manager that I would be taking my business elsewhere her reply was, "Well you are certainly free to shop wherever you would like." She really could care less about what I was saying. And I think today's experience just sealed the deal!
So....I was driving by WalMart on my way home from an appointment today and remembered that I wanted to buy a little cactus for preschool tomorrow. I had a WalMart gift card in my wallet that one of my children traded with me for cash. So I figured that I wouldn't be going against my vow by using the gift card becuase it really was not my money that I was spending. As I walked into the Garden Center I heard this squeaking sound over and over again. I saw a couple of large cacti that were too expensive so I walked farther into the Garden Center to find some smaller ones. As I was walking I discovered the source of the squeaking sound. There was a very creepy one-armed man sitting on a porch swing that was on display among the patio furniture. I couldn't tell if he was an employee or not but all he did was sit there and swing, back and forth, back and forth. He saw me and said in the creepiest weird-guy voice, "Well, helllloooo there." I looked around and realized that we were the only two people in the Garden Center. As you can imagine, I quickly abandoned my search for a cactus and got out of there as fast as I could. Ok, I didn't scream and run but I turned and walked rather fast. Sorry, the preschool kids will have to learn about cactus by looking at a picture because I wasn't about to be beat to death by a creepy one-armed man holding a cactus. I don't think anyone would even hear me screaming from the Garden Center! If I hear about an attack in the WalMart Garden Center tonight on the news I'll be calling the police to give them a positive ID on this weirdo!

Wow! I'm thinking of the creepy one-armed man from The Fugitive and I too would have left asap!
I'm with you on Wal-mart! I've argued many times that its just not worth the savings of a few cents on each item for a combined savings of $3.00.
Have you ever been to peopleofwalmart.com? I love the photos spot where you can submit pictures of people you see at wal-mart. It's classic and spot-on!
Oh my goodness! That is crazy and funny. I would have screamed and ran. I totally agree with you about walmart. The customer service stinks, but I must admit that I still shop there.
If you were at the Walmart over by my house I know all about that garden center. I went in there by myself one night and while there was no creepy one armed man on a swing I had the creeps just being in there! I got out as fast as I could too...maybe that man was lurking behind something just watching.... Okay, now I never want to go in the garden center again!
